Last month I previewed their amazing Spring 2011 Peacock Collection and anxiously awaiting the release of the collection on their online store.
Well the collection is finally out !!!
And despite their busy schedules Virgos Lounge still found time for an interview with yours truly :)
Enjoy!!!!!
1) Who is Virgos Lounge?
Virgos Lounge is a London based brand established in 2008 by three Virgos, Fioye
Akinsola, Oyeyemi Wemi-Akinsola and Nike Ajanaku.
2) How did you start your company?
We started off selling specially sourced vintage pieces and progressed to designing our own vintage inspired collections.
3) How long have you guys been selling online for?
2 years
4) Who is your ideal customer?
Any fun loving lady looking for something a little bit different.
5) Who is your creative designer?
All 3 of us are involved in the creative designing of our collections.
6) How/Where do you manufacture your clothes?
Our collections are designed and created by the Virgos Lounge team and our vintage pieces are sourced across the United Kingdom.
7) What inspires your designs?
All Virgos Lounge collections are inspired by different things, for example, our latest collection the peacock collection is inspired by the iridescent and shimmering shades of a peacock.
8) I am aware that there are 3 of you that make up Virgos Lounge so what roles do you each play from the creation to the selling aspect of the clothes?
We are all involved in all aspects of the business. Fioye is the head of operations she's more involved in the smooth running of the brand as a whole while Nike and Oye are the creative directors, Oye is also the in house stylist.
9) As up and coming Nigerian Designers what are your biggest challenges?
Cant really pinpoint anything in particular as being a challenge its just been a great learning experience. It has been harder than we anticipated but it wouldn't be as rewarding if it was easy, what's important is learning from these challenges.
10) What advise can you give to people that wish to pursue a career like yours?
Its alot of hard work but if its something you're passionate about stick at it and you will definitely see results. Also, never assume you know it all there is always something you don't know or could have done better, that applies to all careers really!
Many thanks.
The Virgos Lounge Team
